First Baby of 2009 is here

The first baby if 2009 has been born. The 21 year old first time mother Navdeep Sandhu’s baby Amrit was born three minutes into the New Year. Though the baby’s original due date was January 7th. Amritpal Singh Ghag is a healthy six-pound, five-ounce. Although Navdeep is still upset about her husband Gurmukh Ghag, who is still in India waiting to immigrate to Canada. The two were married in December 2007 in India where she stayed with him until moving to Abbotsford with her family. I miss him very much and he can't wait to meet his new son - I hope he gets his visa so he can come here as soon as possible," was what Navdeep to say about her husband’s immigration. Having the first born baby of 2009 is an honor that Navdeep did not relies existed in Canada. Navdeep had been in labor for four to five hours, and her sister Navneet was with her for the entire delivery. Navneet has three children of her own and is helping her sister take care of Amrit until the husband has been officially immigrated. Sandhu received a package of gifts from Fraser Health including a family portrait package worth more than $200.
As of 3 p.m. on New Year's Day, six out of Fraser Health's eight maternity units had delivered New Year's babies, said Simrita Johal-Virk, a spokeswoman for Fraser Health.
